Pre - Event Briefing

  • Pre-event briefing is held online on Microsoft Teams

  • The topic for the preliminary round is released.

  • Briefing of the competition timeline and rules

Workshop

  • Physical workshop on introduction to R programming language on Taylor’s University campus.

  • Workshop to help pick up R programming more easily.

  • Participants are expected to do more research on their own after the workshop.

Preliminary Round

  • Participants are given a set of guidelines and instructions, and are provided with relevant insurance datasets, including historical claims data, underwriting information, and financial data. 

  • Participants are expected to submit their business proposal in pdf format and their excel sheet within two weeks upon receiving the set of instructions and guidelines, and the insurance dataset.

  • Only the team leader has to make the submission for the team.

  • The submissions are graded by a panel of judges consisting of professionals from various relevant industries.

  • The top 8 teams in the preliminary round are eligible to proceed to the Grand Finals.

Grand Finals

  • Physical live presentation on Taylor’s University campus.

  • Presentation on the models built, scenario analyses, and refining strategies using R.

  • Finalists create their final reports and presentations, showcasing their findings, redefined reinsurance strategies, and data visualisations to the judges and audiences.

  • Each team is given 15 minutes to present their idea and a 10 minutes Q&A session for the panel of judges to ask the team questions. 

  • The Grand Finals are open to the public to register for spectating.

Networking Session

  • Networking on Grand Finals day

  • Networking session is opened for all participants.

  • Light refreshments are provided.

  • Participants are free to visit the booths, interact with industrial professionals and speakers.
